The European Association for Mental Health in Intellectual Disability (EAMHID) provides a platform for academics, health professionals and policy makers. The purpose of the Association is to facilitate international cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of mental health in people with an intellectual disability. Special emphasis is placed on the coordination and promotion of scientific activities and improving standards of care and support throughout Europe.
EAMHID enjoys a wide and consolidated network at European and International level developed through years of well received congresses and masterclasses.
Every two years EAMHID organises international Congresses to promote excellence in clinical and academic work in Mental Health in Intellectual Disabilities. In the period between congresses the Association organises Masterclasses in different cities in Europe to promote the discussion and favour exchanges on issues related to mental health and intellectual disability.
The Association seeks to promote the endeavours of innovative research and clinical practice. A key to on-going success in facilitating high standards in practice is to nurture future clinicians and academics in low and mid income countries.

Federico Camporesi
Federico Camporesi is an expert in EU law and policies (International PhD in EU Law) with a sound experience in the coordination of European networks and project management. Creative and multi-tasking, he enjoys wearing different hats ranging from research and policy analysis to coordination of members and partners, communication, events organization and networking with different stakeholders. At the same time his background and experience provide him with a sound understanding of the EU institutional framework as well as of the development of European policies and regulations. Since 2019 Federico is the European Coordinator of EAMHID.
Tanja Sappok
Dr. Tanja Sappok is President of the European Association for Mental Health in Intellectual Disability (EAMHID). Priv.-Doz. Dr. Tanja Sappok is head of the Department for Mental Health in Developmental Disabilities at the Ev. Krankenhaus Königin Elisabeth Herzberg in Berlin where she runs the in- and outpatient clinic for adults with ID and mental disorders. She is consultant for Neurology, Psychiatry and Psychotherapy and senior lecturer at the Charité University Hospital. Her scientific interests are Autism Spectrum Disorders, Emotional Development and Challenging Behaviours in people with ID. She is founding member of the Network of Europeans on Emotional Development (NEED) and leads the Autism working group at KEH Hospital. By publishing books and papers, engaging with national and international ID and ASD societies, giving lectures and her daily work she aims to improve mental health and wellbeing of people with intellectual developmental disorders.
